paper towels and call us immediately. Spills and stains should be treated immediately. The longer a spot remains, the more difficult it will be to remove. Here are instructions for attempting to take care of small spills and spots yourself, in between professional cleanings: First, pick up any solids that are easily removable. In the case of muddy footprints, wait until they are thoroughly dry, then vacuum. Second, you have to determine which type of spill or stain you are attempting to remove. Two basic types of stains appear on carpet:
remove any traces of detergent. Instruction for this will follow: Treatment for Water-Soluble Stain Removal: 1. Blot up spills with clean, white, absorbent materials (white towels, napkins, tissues, etc.). Keep blotting, and repeat. 2. Next, mix a few drops of household dish soap with one cup warm water. Do NOT use automatic dishwasher detergent or any other solution containing bleach. Moistening a white towel with the solution, blot the area where the spill was a few times. 3. Next, neutralize the area you have cleaned by doing the following: mix one cup warm water with two tablespoons white vinegar or ammonia. Moistening a towel with the solution, blot the area where the spill was a few times. Next, blot the area you have cleaned with a dry white towel. If you have solid built-up materials on the carpet, remove them with a rounded tablespoon, spatula, or edge of a dull knife. Then, follow steps two and three, above. If your have a pet stain, follow the above treatment with the application of an enzyme product for pet odor, available in all pet stores.
